The 22 squares in Savannah’s Historic Downtown are
perfect places to explore on your next dog walk.
Waste disposal bins are located throughout and there
are even a doggy water fountains in Troup Square,
Ellis Square, and Forsyth Park! Head to Colonial
Park Cemetery and Bonaventure Cemetery for a
picturesque stroll and a chance to check out the
azaleas in full bloom during the spring. On the way
to Tybee, visit Fort Pulaski National Monument. Pets
are welcome on the grounds and even inside the fort
as long as they’re leashed! Unfortunately, you aren’t
able to bring your dog onto the beach on Tybee, but
the island’s two dog parks are great alternatives. One
is for smaller breeds under 20 pounds, while the other
accommodates larger dogs. Go check them out!
A DOG’S DAY OUT
With so many pet-friendly activities around, you
might as well dedicate a whole day to your dog!
Most outdoor restaurants will accommodate pets
during the day. especially on Tybee. If you’re pup
is a little more adventurous and has plenty of water
experience, many of the kayak and paddleboard
Just ask! Take a trip to the Starland District, one of the
most happening neighborhoods in all of Savannah!
Many restaurants and shops allow dogs inside, but
Starland Yard is a must. This open-air yard is fashioned
from shipping containers and features a rotating cast
of food trucks that offer a variety of cuisine. With
plenty of easily accessible water bowls, your pup
won’t be parched while you grab some of the best
Neapolitan-inspired pizza at Vittoria Pizzeria. Nearby
you can visit Two Tides Brewing and Service Brewing
Co
great socialization for you and your companion. Last,
but not least, head over Woof Gang Bakery for some
much needed treats after a big day!
