take on
Tybee Island
Tybee Island is like the laid-back little sister of Savannah
and that’s exactly how we like it. Located just 20 minutes
from downtown Savannah, Tybee is more than just a
chilled out barrier island in the lowcounty. It’s a feeling.
An end to the search for a place to call home for some
and the beginning of a dream vacation for others. A
chance to enjoy the company of family and friends,
taking part in the simple pleasures of life. A true hidden
gem, tucked away on the Georgia coast, that has
somehow managed to maintain the friendly, small-town
feel and quiet island charm through all of it’s changes.
While the sprawling beaches and picturesque sunsets
will always be Tybee’s main attractions, there are
plenty of restaurants, shops, galleries, and attractions in
between to check out. So why not vacation like a local
and check out the best of what Tybee has to offer.
A BEACON IN THE NIGHT
The Tybee Island Light Station is a sight to behold on
the island as it’s the oldest and tallest lighthouse in
the entire state of Georgia! Dating back to 1736 and
standing 145 feet tall, the lighthouse is one of the best
preserved in the nation with the lightkeeper’s cottages
on the grounds. It’s actually one of only seven colonial
era lighthouses that are still standing! However, it did
have helped it stand the test of time. Check out all of
the exhibits to be transported back in time or venture
up the 178 steps to the top for a gorgeous 360-degree
view of the entire island!
LOCALLY OWNED SHOPPES
The locally owned and operated boutiques at The
Shoppes at 1207 have a variety of unique gifts and
trinkets inspired by the Georgia coast. Seaside Sisters is
a “shore” thing when it comes to beach themed home
decor, slipcover furniture, eye catching jewelry, comfy
clothes, and take-home treasures. Kelly & Company
is a specialty store offering handcrafted essential oils,
accessories, and merchandise that promote your well
being.
