Dear Child of Mary, our role in the
Great Drama of the Redemption of the
world is a particular grace, given to us,
that is suited to the need of the hour.
We should know that we are of infinite
worth. Modern writers and thinkers
have made us little more than animals
whose destiny is the ever-nearing
grave. Literature today is nothing but
a lamentation if not a howl of despair!
We must learn to lift up our heads, lift
up our eyes and lift up our hearts!
Men have a divine destiny! We are the
branches of the Vine, members of His
Church, a part of the Mystical Body of
Christ! Christ is the Head! This is a
dogma and not only dignifies but also
divinizes! Mary is the Mother of the
Mystical Body of Christ. Our whole life
is summed up in the phrase: Doubling
for the Mother of God!
The Drama of the Redemption is ended,
but the Great Drama of Redeeming still
goes on. Christ made satisfaction for
our sins and did it superabundantly,
but that satisfaction must be applied!
Countless, indeed, are the men and
women buried in deep sorrows. Ah,
they are so often alone in hospitals,
old folks’ homes and in the streets.
Where do we find a double for Mary
bending over them, soothing their
agonizing bodies and comforting their
tortured souls?
“I am in labor again, until Christ
be formed in you.” (Gal. 4:19)
In Mary, the work was accomplished
and exemplified by her resounding
FIAT and Christ was formed in her womb.
Our one great work is cooperation
with the Holy Ghost to see that Christ
be formed in us. FIAT to everyone and
everything that crosses our path.
Welcoming God’s Will in everything
is the whole secret of sanctity and the
deepest foundation of a substantial
spiritual life. It is not humanity we
serve. NEVER! It is divinity in
humanity. Every single person, no
matter his situation, can be looked
upon as a member of Christ, either
actual or potential and, thus, he can
be seen in Christ even when Christ
cannot be seen in him or her!
At an early age, Mary spoke five words,
“Fiat mihi secundum verbum tuum.”
(“Be it done unto me according
to Thy Word.”) Total Consecration!
She meant every one of those words,
and they meant salvation for mankind!
After Mary made her Total Consecration,
the crosses came! God has only one
pattern, only one plan. It is the Cross!
He traced it on the soul of Mary
Immaculate from the moment of His
conception to the day of His crucifixion.
Sorrow is Sanctity’s Sculpture!
We are doubling for Mary. Sorrows
will come. When they do come, do what
Mary did: Seek Jesus in the Temple. If
we do, He will wipe away our tears.
There are times when our whole world
turns black. When puzzled, perplexed
and bewildered by the ways of God,
we must go on trustingly! Go on as Mary
