Restaurant Voucher Program Aids Businesses Amid
COVID-19 Pandemic
In these uncertain and unprecedented times, the
hospitality industry has been hit hard during the
COVID-19 pandemic.
Amid this new reality, the Clearwater Community
Redevelopment Agency launched a program this summer
to aid Downtown Clearwater restaurants through a voucher
program that helped bring significant business downtown.
The CRA’s 2020 Summer Dining Program running from
July 1 through Aug. 31 was a highly successful partnership
with local restaurants to offer vouchers to city residents
inviting them to visit businesses downtown, while
encouraging wearing masks and safe distancing for dining-in
or carry-out. Throughout the voucher program patrons were
also able to dine safely outside as the city made the decision
to close the 400 and 500 blocks of Cleveland Street to
vehicular traffic, now through Jan. 14, 2021, in order to
promote outside dining.
Residents were able to obtain $20 vouchers from the CRA
toward their checks at many of Downtown Clearwater’s
finest restaurants. The $25,000 CRA program offered 2,500
vouchers to be used to support these local businesses that are
the fabric of the downtown.
The city of Clearwater
and CRA would like to
thank the many residents
who supported the voucher
program, as well as participating
restaurants:
Chiang Mai Thai & Sushi Bar, 415
Cleveland St.
Clear Sky on Cleveland, 418 Cleveland St.
Downtown Pizza Sports Bar & Grill, 428 Cleveland St.
Kara Lynn's Kitchen, 421 Cleveland St.
Philly Joe's Steaks & Hoagies, 405 S. Missouri Ave.
Pour Yours, 522 Cleveland St.
Roxy's Restaurant, 412 Cleveland St.
Soul Sicilian Fusion, 516 Cleveland St.
Vera's Kitchen, 530 Cleveland St.
The success of the voucher program shows the dedication
the city has to promoting Clearwater’s business community,
the public’s desire to enjoy and contribute to emerging
growth downtown, and business owners’ resilience and
commitment to providing a top notch dining experience
during extremely difficult times.
