Dr. Alexandra Molinares
Following her passion

By Jet Hall
Born in Barranquilla, Colombia, Dr. ALexandra Molinares came to
Florida with her family in June 12, 2002. Here she began to study for her
medical board exams, and then she began her journey to become certified
in laser hair removal in 2007. Although it sounds easy, it took years
of hard work. While a single mom at the time, with a disabled child too,
she continued her education, commuting back and forth to the hospital for
training in her Family Medicine Residency in Washington, DC in 2008,
while her parents took care of her son in Tampa, Florida, to become a
Board-Certified Family Medical Physician in 2011.
Married now for the past 6 and half years and with two boys, (17
and 5), her dream has come to fruition. On November 11, 2013, and
expecting her second child, Molinares Medical & Holistic Centre and
Alera Med Spa opened in the heart of Wesley Chapel. Unlike a day of
pampering at a Med Spa, her office treats clients from the inside out. It’s
not just about the quick, relaxing treatments you would expect to receive.
Dr. Molinares and her staff look at the root of the problem. For instance,
what is causing your skin condition, what is the patient’s skin care regimen,
diet, or even lifestyle? What are the results the client is trying to achieve?
All of these and more come into play when trying to just “look beautiful”.
And there is more. Each client is taken care of the same way as in her
Medical Practice next door. All services and treatments are documented,
pictures are taken to study the progress and consent forms signed. Not
something you see when you are at a “pampering” day spa.
Looking back, Dr. Molinares’ seeds were planted as she struggled
to deal with acne as a teenager. It’s those memories that drive her to help

her patients today. She strives to treat more holistically, offering alternative
solutions, the same as in her medical practice, before harsh chemicals or
invasive treatments are used and to be sure a patient’s prescriptions are
not compromised. She follows each clients’ progress with the same care
and concern as she does for her family.
And taking care of her family, providing the best she can is her driving
force that carries over into both practices. Along with her husband’s help,
she has 2 Aestheticians (Debanie Golden, Edislen Marzo “Lynn”) and a
Massage Therapist (Ron Ragno). Each one brings years of experience
and the same vision as Dr. Molinares.
Caring for family, clients, and patients is key, along with education.
She loves to teach her clients how to care for themselves and is always
continuing her education in her field. It is not just about staying on top of
the latest trends, but to be sure the treatments are accurate and good
for the patient. She loves skin care, and decided to expand her medical
knowledge in dermatology and in the esthetic/cosmetic field, and for that
reason, she is now certified in Botox, dermal filler (collagen) injections,
Kybella (“double chin” removal), lifting threads as an alternative for full facial/
neck lifting, and all modalities of laser including hair removal, spider
vein removal, skin rejuvenation, acne, rosacea, fractional laser for scar
removal (acne, post-surgical), and stretch marks removal. Her estheticians
specialize in anti-aging treatments, including microchanneling, hydrofa-
