break from the midday sun and
spend a bit of time in the cool
indoors of Imagine Museum to
experience the stunning creativity of
some of the best glass artists in the
world, including the glass artists in
our region who have helped create
our designation as Florida’s “glass”
coast.
WHAT MAKES THE
CHIHULY COLLECTION
UNIQUE?
The Chihuly Collection is unique for
a couple of reasons. Out of the 200
plus museums in the world with Chihuly
artwork in their collection, we
are only one of two Chihuly-centric
venues. That means our entire venue
is dedicated to showcasing Chihuly’s
amazing glass sculptures. Our space
is also unique in that Chihuly helped
design the building—the art and
the architecture work together to
create a superb immersive experience.
All proceeds from the Chihuly
Collection support community arts
education and programming at St.
Petersburg’s Morean Arts Center. So,
by simply buying a ticket, a guest is
having a direct impact on the local
community.
HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE ST.
PETE’S ARTS & CULTURAL SCENE?
For a city our size, it’s impressive to
have so many opportunities to engage
in ne art, theater and music.
Whether you are looking to visit a
gallery show, or see a jazz concert, all
of these cultural activities are possible
practically year-round. St. Pete is truly
a city of the arts catering to all manner
of creative endeavors.
WHAT ARTS-RELATED ACTIVITIES
SHOULD VISITORS NOT MISS?
With the Chihuly Collection and the
Imagine Museum, along with the
Duncan McClellan Gallery and
the Morean Arts Center Glass
Studio & Hot Shop, you can
really make a day of glass art
here in St Pete. It’s been particularly
nice to have the Imagine
Museum open, because at
that venue you can see Dale Chihuly’s
artwork from a different era than ours,
when he was a pioneer at the beginning
of the Studio Glass Movement.
I also want to recognize the Morean
Center for Clay. There are amazing
national and international ceramic artists
on display there.
