across the Bay to Tampa to watch the
Tampa Bay Buccaneers football team
at Raymond James Stadium and the
Tampa Bay Lighting play hockey at
Amalie Arena.
GRAND PRIX RACERS
Indy race car drivers take to
downtown city streets each spring
during the Firestone Indy Grand
Prix. St. Pete is a favorite destination
and the rst round of the Indy Car
series. This race takes drivers along
a picturesque 14-turn, 1.8 mile track
set up near the waterfront. Race car
driver Sebastien Bourdais is a local
resident and winner of the 2017
competition.
PLAY IN THE ‘BURG
Golng and tennis are year-round
pursuits in the Sunshine City. The
city sponsors 66 free, lighted public
courts at various locations throughout
town. For a daily fee, the public can
also play at the private St. Petersburg
Tennis Club or golf at the St.
Petersburg Country Club. The Vinoy
Renaissance St. Petersburg Resort
& Golf Club offers 12 championship
courts for members and hotel guests.
The Vinoy resort also has the area’s
premier 19-hole, par-71 golf course.
Additional 18-hole courses can be
found at the Feather Sound Country
Club in Clearwater and the Bayou
Club in Largo. Three city-owned
public courses include Mangrove Bay,
a par-72, 18-hole course; Cypress
Links, a 9-hole, par-3 course; and Twin
Brooks, a 9-hole, par-3 course and
driving range.
