course you want to go all out for his/
her birthday. But what if you don’t
know what day your dog was born?
For pet parents who adopted their
pup from a shelter or rescue, it’s a
common problem with a super-fun
solution: Dogust, the universal shelter
Dogust, which takes place Aug. 1 each
year, is a nationwide celebration for
dogs whose birthdays are unknown.
It’s been a holiday since 2008, when
America of New York set out to ensure
still get their own special day.
If your adopted cat has an unknown
birthday, there is a universal birthday
for all the adopted cats that do not
have a record of their actual birthday.
North Shore Animal League, an animal
rescue organization, has declared
October 1st to be the birthday for all
these shelter cats. The date has been
dubbed “CATober the 1st.”
