SPORTS & RECREATION
The Sunshine City has had a
focus on a healthy outdoor
lifestyle since the 1920s,
when seasonal visitors came
every winter, lured by the sunshine,
fresh air and beautiful natural landscape.
That same great quality of life
continues today. Enjoy year-round
activities that run the gamut from
bicycling and running to swimming,
paddleboard, beach volleyball and
tennis.
5 WAYS TO STAY
ACTIVE IN ST. PETE
1 RIDE A BIKE
The League of American Bicyclists
recognizes St. Pete as top bicycle
friendly city in the U.S. Rent a bicycle
at one of the many local bike shops or
from Coast Bike Share, which partners
with the city to offer convenient rental
bike “hubs” throughout town. Many
city streets have designated bicycle
lanes, or take the 39-mile Pinellas Trail
that starts in south St. Pete and continues
north to Tarpon Springs.
2 GO FOR A RUN
Join the locals running and walking
on city sidewalks and streets,
along the downtown waterfront, or on
trails that take you through one of the
city’s many wooded parks and nature
preserves. The new St. Pete Pier has
a wide pedestrian and bike-friendly
sidewalk that offers outstanding views
of the water and the city skyline.
