inspiration comes from the mundane; those things
that don’t have much meaning in the grand scheme
but are still part of our lives. For example, a friend
told me recently that she hoped one day to sell
her home in Boca Grande and move to a cattle
ranch in Montana. I wondered if she was serious
about pulling up stakes at 70 and going to the wild
west. Or was she just “old age dreaming?” When
you get to a certain point in your life you sometimes
long to do things you didn’t get around to
when you were younger - often for good reason.
It struck me that old age dreaming could be the
subject of a blog. It hasn't been written yet, but is
on the list.”
There are many reasons to read this collection
of blogs by a brilliant writer. Some will make you
laugh out loud. Some will make you think about life
and your place in it. All of them will entertain you.
What is happiness? Does it come from the
smallest of things: a sunny day with temperatures
in the 70s, a good dinner with friends, a football
game in which your favorite team scores the
winning goal at the last second, a walk on the
beach, a hug and kiss from your wife? There’s
happiness everywhere - especially where we live -
if you open yourself to it.
Never Name an Iguana has not been published on
