What You Can Learn from “The Other” Appraisers
Good job Rachel, as you always do. That is the same reason I
post on the various forums - to encourage appraisers to join
their local appraisal meetings. If your state doesn’t have one,
help form an appraiser coalition. If there already is one,
attend their meetings and any of the professional
organization meetings in your area. At least once a month
(or more), I drive 175-200 miles one way to attend meetings,
seminars, conferences, etc. as well as being active on various
chat rooms. I have been in the appraisal profession almost
52 years and I am still learning. More exposure to other
appraisers is extremely valuable.

In Search of “Perfect” Adjustment Factors
Excellent article Richard. Love it. I have yet to have someone explain to me how regression, or any
doesn’t care at all, but they will still buy the house if all the other features are to their liking. We’ve
lost sight of what the purpose of an adjustment is. It is not the exact market reaction to a feature.
An adjustment tries to measure possible market reactions to features based on a typical positive
or negative response.
