years. This is her second marketing company that she spent
many years serving. Veronica has always taken her positions
very seriously and would make decisions with the company’s
best interest in mind. Though Veronica is company minded,
she is pleasant to her co-workers and possesses a sense of humor
guaranteed to put a smile on your face.
While functioning as the manager of the previous company,
she would periodically notice odd behavior from some of
her marketing managers. Initially thinking the oddness of the
behavior was in her head and couldn’t possibly be true she
kept her eyes open. She would notice male manager’s glances
toward particular female subordinants.
Eventually, she began asking these employees what was
going on. They often down played the suspicions that Veron-

awkward scenarios, then make
sexual advances towards them.
According to Veronica, this was
happening often and if there was
any resistance or push back the
managers would terminate the female
employee.
Veronica immediately informed
the owner of the company
fully expecting his support and
looking for his directions. She was
“Veronica I need you to stay out
of it. It’s not as big
of a deal as you are
making it!” This is
obviously not what
she was expecting.

what Veronica had
said they immediately
turned on her.
She was now an outcast,

was try to protect

and watch out for
her female co-workers. She noted everything she witnessed.
When she tried to speak to the owner again he was short and
avoided her. Veronica pushed the issue as the harassment
continued. She saw girls get hired with excitement in their
eyes so happy to start a new career just to watch them whither
in disappointment and sometimes shame.
Veronica held on for about a year pushing the issue,
terminated as a thanks for her effort.
About a year into her new job with the company she is
still currently with, she read in the news that her previous
employer lost a class action suit. Below is a snippet from the
EEOC web page with names and the name of the company
withheld.
Florida Company Subjected Women to Verbal and
for Complaining, Federal Agency Charged
TAMPA, Fla. - A federal jury has returned a unanimous
verdict awarding a total of $20,251,963 to eight former employees
of (the company) who suffered sexual harassment and
retaliation, the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission
(EEOC) announced today.
I’m not a betting man but if I were, I’d bet dollars to
doughnuts someone wishes they listened to Veronica!
