The voice of an angel
Local Performing Artist, Rebekah Pulley,
has the voice of an angel and a
brand new CD about to be released.
By Jeannie Holton
Rebekah Pulley i
is a St. Petersburg, FL based singer-songwriter
whose sultry, seasoned voice has been
dropping, with a tendency to break your
your soul. Her original songs are potent shots
coated in melodies that are the kind you wish
writer and guitarist
described as jaw dro
heart and shake your
of reality, sugar coate
cool anymore, and when you hear her, you’ll know exactly
what she’s talking about. Rebekah was raised in a musical
throughout the most rural areas of Alaska, East Texas, and
Washington State. A self taught guitarist, she gained an ear
for music by listening to her father play his rockabilly style
guitar with country greats such as Charlie Ryan with whom
he recorded the original version of Hot Rod Lincoln. She’s
etched out a fruitful living in a diverse setting of house concerts,
bars, coffeehouses, and festivals around the globe and
has earned herself six ‘Best Of The Bay’ songwriting awards
has wryly evolved tapping roots-rock, blues, old-school country
& western, jazz, and even gospel to become a must have
for even the most discerning Americana and Folk music fans.
New Recording: The Sea Of Everything
Her latest recording, The Sea of Everything, was recorded
at Zen Recording in Pinellas Park, FL and will be released on
June 1st at The Hideaway Café in St. Petersburg, Florida. She
will be performing the recording in its entirety with her band,
The Reluctant Prophets. The Sea of Everything refers to the
feeling of being overwhelmed by the vastness of the Internet.
There’s a slight theme of ‘City’ contained in the 13 songs
that make up the recording. From the opening track, Central
Doot, Doot, Doo, a song about returning home to St. Pete and
also Jackpot City. Other songs discuss songwriting (Others),
addiction (Whiskey), beliefs (F,S,HG), and struggling with
relevancy (Nobody’s Cool Anymore), achievement (Holes In
the Sky), and loneliness (Empty). The title track itself, The Sea
of Everything, is a song to her band mates, past and present.
