Happy New Year!
Letter from
the Publisher
It’s a New Year and a time of reflection, change and hope. We must
never lose hope and faith, whatever your spiritual beliefs, especially in
these trying times. I hope that you, Dear Reader, face the New Year with
optimism as you strive towards your goals or overcome whatever you may
be struggling with.
Inside this issue we address Human Trafficking, with an interview with
Sally Richardson, a survivor of human trafficking, who fought her way out.
It’s a hot topic at the moment, although we watch the news, hear of arrests,
we may feel a false sense of “problem solved”, however, it continues. It will
always continue, so we have supplied a list of things to recognize and how
to act if a situation arises. Make the call if you see something! You may just
save someone’s life and be the answer to their “hope”.
Our Empowered Woman story this month is of the two interesting
women that grace our cover: Dr. Pina Panchal, MD and Dr. Linette Rivera,
MD, co-owners of Bella Mia Medical Aesthetics and Laser Institute in
South Tampa. Two doctors that teamed up to form a special practice to
help women of all ages.
Our Organic Beauty Warrior, Caterina Elena, is back this month with
a continuation of her column: “How to Spot a Fake”, and Dr. Melissa Bahamonde,
of Soul Positive Life, gives us advice on self-care and what it
really means. Perfect for a fresh new year. You will love 10 Questions with
Maria Ortiz-Haynes. We met her at a St. Pete gallery exhibit for Jose Rodeiro
last month and fell in love with her work.
We are very excited about a new column beginning this year: Fashion
Trends. Vintage and resale clothing and accessories are on the rise, so we
decided to focus on that subject this month. There are so many shops selling
resale and/or vintage. My favorite find is the Cheapskate Store in Tampa,
just down Bruce B. Downs and the new Vintage Marketplace that opened
in Zephyrhills, Rappa Resales along with the popular Flippin’ Makers in
Dade City and the fabulous Treasure Trove in Hudson.
If redecorating is on your agenda, pay a visit to Bella Home Market
in Lutz. You will be amazed at the inventory; so eclectic and beautiful. Of
course, we have our Divine Foodie Column with another delicious recipe
and a great article on incorporating healthy ingredients into your diet.
As usual, our health pages are full of helpful information to keep you
moving. And lastly, we all know it’s coming…. Tax Season. Get ready! If
you take a few steps now, April 15th will be a breeze.
Enjoy our issue. Thank you for reading us, and
Happy New Year from all of us at FWM.
