Starting a Family
When expecting your first bundle of
joy, if you have not started yet , do it
now! At a minimum, in addition to your
POAs and will, every parent should
have Guardian Appointments for minor
children, designating an emergency
caretaker and money manager until
they are at least 18. A Guardian has
critical responsibilities, including
deciding where your child will live, and
making provisions for their education,
medical, dental and mental health,
when you can not. Annually review
your life insurance needs at this stage.
The “Middle Years” and Sandwich
Generation
If you are caring for children and/or aging
parents, in the “sandwich generation,”
make sure your plan adequately covers
all of the people you’re financially or
physically supporting in the event you
become ill, disabled or die. One way
to do this is with a trust that sidesteps
probate, a long and often expensive
legal process where your estate is
evaluated by the court. Trusts can also
help you to protect your own assets,
provide security for spouses, and
prepare for future medical costs. You
We provide peace of mind,
one family at a time.
