EVENTS AND FESTIVALS
Englewood is home to year-round art
shows, food festivals, concert weekends
and special events. Most support local
organizations and community groups.
Lemon Bay High School boasts an awardwinning
theater and music programs, and
both offer performances throughout the
school year that are open to the public. The
local Rotary clubs sponsor many popular
annual events including the Spring Fine
Arts Festival, the July 4th Fireworks and
the Wine & Swine fundraiser. In the spring,
Tropical Nights benefiting the Englewood
Family YMCA, and the Englewood
Chamber’s Manasota Mystique in the fall,
sell out every year.
In February, there is the week-long
“Lemon Bay Festival - Englewood History
with Zest,” with a variety of events dedicated
to the town’s history and founding families.
Also in February or March is the Annual
Dearborn Street Wine Walk hosted by Vino
Loco. The last week in August is the annual
Pioneer Days honoring the Englewood
pioneering families. This has become a
week-long event culminating in the Pioneer
Days Parade on Labor Day.
The Halloween Safe Walk brings trickor
treaters of all ages to Dearborn Street. In
November, the crowds come out to enjoy live
music at the Friends for the Advancement
of Music Education (FAME) concerts to
support music education in our schools. On
the weekend before Thanksgiving the OPA
Offshore Boat Races come to town for their
year-end races.
There are several exceptional juried art
shows each year, many arts and crafts fairs,
car shows including the monthly Cruisin’
on Dearborn, and in March, the annual
Buchan Airport Fly-in where you can enjoy
breakfast and check out the airplanes.
