Scholar Program has
continued to develop
in support of Jesuit’s
academic excellence
At two special ceremonies on

Cross and then in the Multi-Purpose
Room, Jesuit High School recognized the
most prestigious scholarship, the Saint
Ignatius Scholar Program.
Two students in each grade level are
selected to receive the award, which is
worth half the cost of tuition for all four
years at Jesuit. Students initially qualify
are accepted into Jesuit and scored
in the top 2% nationwide on the High
letter of recommendation, and they also
are evaluated on the basis of character,
faith, service, and need.

Scholarly GROWTH
Three years ago, Jesuit launched
the Hurtado Service Program and
Zipoli Organ Scholarship, providing
more scholarship opportunities for
students.
The Hurtado Service Program is a
merit-based tuition assistance program
designed to attract and retain students
of exceptional moral character who
have a strong personal desire to serve
those in need in the community. Jesuit
provides two Hurtado Scholars in each
incoming class with an annual award of
$8,000 in tuition assistance for each of
their four years at Jesuit. The program
is separate from Jesuit’s need-based
The Zipoli Organ Scholarship is named
after , the great Jesuit
composer, organist, and missionary
of the early 18th century. Zipoli Scholars
each receive an award of $2,000 in
tuition assistance; approximately six
months of professional organ lessons
paid for by Jesuit; and the opportunity
Holy Cross Chapel, for which the organist
receives an appropriate stipend.
On December 9, Jesuit’s two 2020-21
Zipoli Scholars,
