Service. “There’s a lot of people out there that are in the business
that just look at those two test factors. We look at the
-
are all essential factors that you need in water testing, and
it gets even deeper than that when you are talking about the
Saturation Index.”
You see, to the Kutzan’s, pool water is more
than just wet stuff you jump into to cool off. It is
their livelihood and the basis of their customer
service – they get water.
“Our core business is actually servicing
and maintaining both residential and commercial
swimming pools,” Charlene continued.
“If anybody has a pool that needs
help with water chemistry or equipment,
we’re there to help them out.
We come out on a weekly basis and
do water testing chemical balancing
and cleaning. We know our water
chemistry.”
One might be inclined to
say “So what? I just want a place
for the kids to splash around on
a hot day?” Sure, you want the
water clean and inviting, so you
need chlorine, but why do you need to worry about alkalinity
or calcium or any of those other factors?
Charlene and Dennis Kutzan, owners of
Backyard Pool Supplies and A-Quality Pool Service.
“Did you ever hear people say they get itchy skin or red
eyes in the water? That’s because the chemistry of the water
is off-balance,” Charlene said. The technicians of A-Quality
Pool Service are given extensive training to make sure that
when you jump in the pool your experience is refreshing, safe
and fun.
It’s not just the swimmer’s comfort that matters, though.
There are other considerations. Bad water chemistry could
leave your pocketbook high and dry.
“Water by nature needs calcium. Just like our body and
our bones needs calcium,” Dennis explained. “Our blood
needs calcium and if it doesn’t have it, it pulls it from the
bones. If you don’t add calcium to the water it’s going to pull
it from the plaster or grout in the pool and that will deteriorate
the pools surface as well as the core equipment including
the pumps.”
So you see, an investment in pool care can save you money
and extend your fun over the long run.
“We started off with the service side of the business and
the road,” Charlene said. “That business is called
A-Quality Pool Service, but in the last two-and-a
half years we found there was a need to actually
open up a brick and mortar store for the do-ityourself
residents - those who have pools but do
it themselves, which is really the majority of people.
They have to get chemicals somewhere and
we felt that a retail store was needed to give
them better service, professional advice,
and more options.” That store is Backyard
Pool Supplies.
A-Quality Pool Service also services
commercial pools like those
found at hotels, community pools
or apartment complexes. “We pride
ourselves on our quality of work,”
Charlene said. We put our techs
through a three week training
course where they learn all aspects
of professionally maintaining proper
water chemistry and our “A Quality”
standards of pool care. They ride
along with a supervisor before they
are actually on their own and even
when they are on their own we have all the tools available so
that they can provide a superior level of service to our valued
customers. We provide a company cell phone and an
app where everything is logged so that even though the technicians
are working independently, they still have a knowledgeable
team behind them to assist them with the pools they
are servicing.
In addition, they don’t just test and clean swimming pool
water. They can resurface your pool, do equipment repairs or
-
tive as we head into the winter months.
