A NEW HOME
At Last……. A New Home for Homeless Pets!
Etta James’ song “At Last” could not have been a more appropriate introduction
at the groundbreaking ceremony for Louisville Metro Animal Services
(LMAS) NEW HOME to homeless pets.
Mayor Fischer shared the long awaited news to an excited crowd that attended
the July 5th groundbreaking ceremony. The new state of the art facility
will house 235 animals.
This new facility will have a stand-alone community spay and neuter clinic,
more. Our city of compassion has just moved light years ahead!
As the Board Chair for Friends of Metro Animal Services (FOMAS), the change
for time or space.
Their innovative Pay it Forward free adoption program, managed intake, and
partnerships with other shelters allowed them to move animals for quicker
adoption.
While Metro government has funded the bulk of the construction, an additional
1.5 million dollars is still needed to complete and enhance the facility and
to begin funding an endowment for behavior training and medical treatment
for shelter pets and to continue funding for medical vouchers to encourage
eligible people to keep their pets.
Paula and Frank Harshaw, and their LMAS adopted dog Buddy, have stepped
can you help? For every dollar donated this year, the Harshaws will match
dollar for dollar.
Checks made out to FOMAS can be sent to Metro Animal Services,
3705 Manslick Rd, 40215 or donate online at www.fomaslou.org.

I have to close with more from Etta James – “My lonely days are over and life
is like a song. At last the skies are blue”.
Stay tuned for more about the 2019 grand opening!
