agencies in Atlanta whose pictures were submitted,” said Ashton. When the response from Click came, it was a request for a bathing suit shot with no make-up. The catch was that it had to be taken and submitted within the next 15 minutes. Ashton put on a swimsuit, and her younger sister took the picture in their backyard. “The agency sent the picture to the person over marketing at Coca-Cola,” said Tammy, “and a couple of days later, they called and said that she’d been picked for the job.” In order to get the kind of look they wanted, Ashton was first sent to a designer in Atlanta. “His apartment was amazing,” said Tammy. “They were going for a ‘hipster’ look; a teenager hanging out in a skate park.” In addition to make-up artists, hair stylists, and the designer, Coca-Cola had executives and chemists present for the photo shoot. Both Ashton’s parents were permitted on set. “These producers were the nicest people you’d ever meet.” If you’ve ever wondered why your glass of coke never quite looks like that sparkling cup of coke on the movie screen, it’s because, as Ashton and her parents discovered, the picture on the screen is not something you’d want to drink. “They had a big table where they mixed the right concoction to give the coke the right look,” said Tammy. “They even put certain chemicals on the outside of the glass to make the condensation.” In addition to billboards, the ad appeared in grocery stores across the state. Last summer, Ashton appeared in back-to-school ads for Hibbett’s and a beautiful photo shoot for a Bridal magazine. She has also done jobs modeling for Holt Miami. Her most difficult photo shoot thus far was set in a canyon. “I had to actually climb in and out of the canyon,” said Ashton. Last summer, someone called Tammy to tell her they had seen her daughter’s picture on a float package at Walmart. “They asked me, ‘How did she keep her hair from getting wet?’” Tammy laughed. “The picture shows Ashton and a guy sitting side by side floating in what appears to be a pool, but she wasn’t anywhere near the water.” “We sat in the floats on the ground and pretended to be in a pool,” said Ashton. “The water was edited in with computers.” As much as she enjoys modeling, the opportunity to appear in movies and her favorite TV show has been Ashton’s favorite experience thus far. After many auditions, including videos, she was one of ten girls chosen out of hundreds to appear in Marvel Studios’ Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2. “The part was for beautiful aliens,” Ashton said with a laugh. Because of a confidentiality agreement, she could only say that the opportunity to be on a movie set with actors such as Sylvester Stallone, Vin Diesel, and Chris Pratt, was unforgettable. It was also a lot of work. “The make-up it took to become one of these ‘Love-Bots’ took about five hours to create and another hour to take off,” said Ashton. The movie is set to be released in May 2017. 28 Toombs County Magazine Ashton has had several television and movie opportunities and would like to continue to pursue those.
