FILMONEFEST
Atlantic Highlands | www.filmonefest.org
This international film festival, which has been
wowing audiences for over a decade with
short-format films from around the world,
begins a new era under the leadership of
executive director, Corinna Thuss. The festival,
which is free and takes place annually on
the third Saturday of July, attracts over 3,000
audience members to watch nearly 400 films
from over 60 countries.
This year’s outdoor screening of films under
two minutes is scheduled for July 20, 2019,
underneath the stars on the shores of historic
Sandy Hook Bay. As a sponsored program of
the Atlantic Highlands Arts Council, the festival
includes music and food.
FilmOneFest continues its partnership with
Monmouth University to expand Film Slam,
one of the most popular special events of
FilmOneFest. The 24-hour film competition
will be hosted on April 6, 2019, at the Woods
Theatre on the MU Campus in Long Branch.
FilmOneFest holds multiple fundraisers
throughout the year, including a benefit dinner,
speaker series, and movie premieres with fulllength
feature films provided by Sony Pictures
Classics. Visit FilmOneFest.org and
aharts.org for more information about the
festival, the Atlantic Highlands Arts Council,
Film Slam and other events.
Monmouth County is a hotbed of creativity,
with Monmouth Arts and a host of local arts
organizations fostering an environment for
innovative artists to thrive. Nowhere is this
more evident than in the county’s wealth of
annual local film festivals, including the Garden
State Film Festival in Asbury Park in March;
FilmOneFest, “The Best Little Film Festival in
the World” (Smart Movie Making) in July; and
the Monmouth Film Festival at the Two River
Theater in Red Bank in August.
