Dear Friends and Colleagues,
Thank you for joining us at the 23rd Anniversary of the
LATINA Style 50 Awards Ceremony, the 17th year of
the Diversity Leaders Conference and the 27th
Anniversary of LATINA Style Magazine. It is
our distinct honor to welcome you to this
year’s conference being held virtually from
Dallas, TX.
Since 1998, we have gathered in the Nation’s
capital to honor the Top 50 Corporations for
Latinas to Work For in the United States.
Unfortunately, due to the COVID-19
Pandemic, we will not be able to enjoy all the
wonderful aspects of Washington, D.C.
However, we hope this set back will not
discourage you from partaking in this
outstanding experience. For 27 years
LATINA Style Magazine has featured, highlighted and
profiled Latina excellence in the workplace giving
us a unique insight into the journey Latinas are
traveling in corporate America. The number of
companies realizing the potential of Latina talent
continues to increase. We honor the LATINA Style 50
Companies because they are and have been visionaries
and have in their mission embraced Latina
achievement. We are also delighted to recognize the
2020 Top Latina Executives of the Year and the 2020
Top Hispanic Employee/Business Resource Groups of
the Year.
The 50 list from 1998 was very different from the 2020
list. What has not changed is our commitment to
spotlight the contributions Latinas are making to the
economy and the fabric of our Nation. The Latinas we
honor here today are playing an essential role in the
success of the corporations they represent. They are
contributing at every level. Their journey has not been
easy, but turning dreams into reality never is. Dreams
take hard work, resilience, stamina, sacrifice and a
willingness to put it all on the line. This is the path
Latinas have taken in corporate America. Incredible
commitment, loyalty, sacrifice, competence, and an
unshakable belief in themselves are but a few of the
many qualities Latinas bring to the table.
Selecting the Company of the Year is not easy. In 2020,
continuing a long tradition of excellence and service,
Bank of America’s commitment to nurture and develop
its diverse workforce stands above all others. The
supportive and nurturing environment provided by
Bank of America has made it possible for Latinas to
shine and rise to the very top. We congratulate them and
wish them continued success.
This year is very special for us as we honor the
companies that have taken a true leadership
position in protecting their workforce during
the struggles of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Reacting positively to uncertainty is a
hallmark of Latina resilience. This time around
the challenges have been enormous. We
always say that Latinas can do it all but the
current challenges have really tested the
strength and resolve of the Latina community.
Working remotely, taking care of your loved
ones, taking care of your household, teaching
your children, making sure your parents and
grandparents are ok and even losing a loved one while
continuing to “hold the fort” is one of the most difficult
challenges that you will ever have to face. For Latinas
at the forefront of the pandemic not being able to be
with your loved ones has been an incredible sacrifice
that we can never repay. We have seen the best in us
and the worse. We hope that eventually the best
overcomes all the negativity. The challenges will
continue to be there, but helping each other, supporting
each other and NEVER FORGETTING THAT YOU
ARE NOT ALONE, we are ready to face the future.
LATINA Style and the Latina community will continue
to succeed.
We congratulate all of the winners and a very special
thank you to our conference partners, you are listed in
the recognition page of this program. Without you, this
program and our work would not be possible. You are
truly the diversity champions we all admire.
Extensive coverage of the awards ceremony and
conference will be provided in our May issue of
LATINA Style Magazine and online at
www.latinastyle.com. It is one of our most popular
issues of the year and I encourage you to be a part of it.
We also look forward to seeing you and your company
among our 2021 award winners in the August issue of
LATINA Style Magazine. God bless you all. Stay safe.
Best Wishes
FROM THE PRESIDENT
