In the world today, man is at the mercy
of fashions, fluctuations of public opinion
and his own mood swings. He no longer
possesses any dignity, his life drifts and
he lacks everything which we define as
character. He is no longer capable of
conquest. Sadly, this spiritual and
intellectual poverty is accompanied by
colossal pride! Man is morbidly uncertain
and noxiously proud, helpless and
arrogant, vain and violent, impotent
and proud. Humanity is lost. We must
gather souls for Christ no matter
how weary we may be, or the sacrifice
which is demanded. We will use the bait
of Mary ~ Her manner, Her humility,
Her generosity; Her strength, purity
and love. We will not ask God to move
mountains that our lives be made easy
but, rather, we will ask Him to give us
the Courage and Grace to climb the
mountains which confront us.
We are soldiers of Mary, whose courage
has never been excelled in following her
Son to the Cross of Calvary. We are called
to be firm of purpose, cast aside vain
fear and never to yield to the spirit of
the world, to human respect, timidity
or tepidity. We cannot be delicate
members of a thorn-crowned Head. The
Church has no other purpose than to
extend the Kingdom of Christ over the
whole earth and so to render all men
sharers of His saving Redemption. God
made our religion good and true, and
beautiful. He created men’s minds to
be vessels of Love, Goodness, Truth and
Beauty. We can never be anything
else, FOR WE ARE THE CHILDREN OF
G OD!
What God sends to us is always for
our eternal good and can never be for
anything else. Let us succumb to His
Will, embrace it with all our hearts,
and radiate Christ to the whole world
as we stand united with the Queen
of Martyrs at the Foot of the Cross,
partaking to the fullest in the Holy
Sacrifice of the Mass that His Kingdom
may come on earth as it is in Heaven!
Excerpt from
The Church and The Catholic, and
The Spirit of The Liturgy
by Romano Guardini - 1935
O DIVINE JESUS, lonely tonight in so many tabernacles, without visitor
or worshiper, I offer ee my heart. Oh, may its very beating be a
prayer of love to ee! ou art ever watching under the sacramental
veils. In y Love, ou never sleepest, and ou art never weary of
y vigils for sinners. O loving Jesus, O lonely Jesus, may my heart be
a lamp, the light of which shall burn and beam for ee alone! Watch,
Sacramental Sentinel, watch, for the weary world, for the erring
soul, and for y poor child!
“O Sacrament most holy! O Sacrament divine!
All praise and all thanksgiving, be every moment Thine.”
