D ear Mrs. Patti,
On behalf of the ULRA members, I thank you for the marvelous work you are
doing. We are particularly grateful for the boxes of Sacramentals and materials
which you send us regularly, notwithstanding the high cost of posting, for the
p romotion of the Living Rosary. Our prayers accompany you, day after day.
Our leaders are going on with the enrollment of members in various parishes. In
many parishes, the preparation of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary took
the form of a 9-day novena and opportunities were given for presenting the Living
Rosary to the people and getting new members enrolled.
I was with Fr. Gerald Okpala, a member of the ULRA himself, at Sts. John and Paul,
Awada, where he works as the Parish Vicar. With the members of all Marian
Societies in the parish, I reflected on the power of the Holy Rosary and particularly
on the mission and urgency of the Living Rosary. Many members were enrolled.
The lists of new members and pictures from our leaders will be posted to you.
On August 6, Feast of the Transfiguration of the Lord, young people gathered in
great numbers for the Youth Camping at Upper Room Ministries, Jesus Emmanuel
Town, Emene Enugu. Fr. Anthony Nnaji, the Director, one of our ULRA members
too, asked me to give the homily and to introduce the young people to the Living
Rosary. By the Grace of God, I exhorted the youth to keep their gaze on Christ,
whose transfiguration we were celebrating. It was a delight to introduce the members to the Living Rosary! The biblical text
that I alluded to was the encounter between the young David and the Philistine
warrior, Goliath. Though David picked five smooth stones from the brook for the
fight - calling to mind the five decades of the Rosary - it was, however, with ONE
stone that the proud and arrogant Philistine was defeated. That ONE STONE
imprints in our minds and hearts the efficacy of the ONE DECADE each of us, in
union of charity with all of us, offered to Our Blessed Mother Mary for the triumph of
Her Immaculate Heart! That night, I had to train volunteers to help us enroll the
numerous young people who embraced the Living Rosary with burning hearts!!!
I am making arrangements with Fr. Anthony so that subsequent campings can
incorporate the promotion of the ULRA.
