Dear Apostles of the Immaculate Heart of Mary,
The Power of Prayer: My Journey of Miracles!
Leaving work on April 6, I carried a large post office
tub of mail and headed out the door. The cement in
the door-way is covered with indoor-outdoor carpet
which was torn and lifted off the ground in a fold. My
foot caught hold of the carpet and my body was thrown
up and over, and I landed very hard on my hip which
took the full weight of the fall. The pain was intense,
but no one was around so I knew I had to get up and
get going. I was able to do this, pick up the tray of mail
and get into the car. On the way home, I stopped at the
store for a couple of items, walking with great difficulty.
Once home, I got out of the car, opened the trunk and
pulled out the tub of mail, and headed toward the front
door, when suddenly my entire left leg gave out and
down I went. I could not crawl back to the car or forward
to the front door and, although my husband was inside, I imagined he was upstairs
at his computer with ear phones and could not be able to hear me cry out. After
laying there for a moment thinking what I might do, the front door opened. I was
never so happy to see Richard - Miracle #1! He had heard me drive up and wondered
what took me so long to enter the house. He had to carry me inside and we sat
together at the table; what to do now? I knew I would need a walker and bed pan,
and he was able to dash to Walgreens before they closed. We decided to watch and
pray, waiting to make any decisions right away. To go to the ER and wait hours with
possible corona virus patients, did not seem prudent. I ended up staying home
for 6 days hoping that the hip would heal and I would not need hospital care.
On the 13th, it became apparent that rest would not heal my wound. Finally, we
called the ambulance to take us to the ER. The driver, Ian, was a very kind and caring
man. He knew what the ER would be like and sought a better plan for my care. If
we went to urgent care, I would avoid ER but still I had to get up on the X-ray
table. My husband would not be allowed to come into the office. Ian suggested a
different urgent care and we called them. The coast was clear; they could take me,
do the X-ray and return me home, and my husband could be with me all during
this time. The ambulance driver had to secure permission from his office to
make such a drive, as they run only from home to hospital and their service did
not include urgent care. He spoke with his superiors and permission was given to
take me to the urgent care. Another MIRACLE! I could never have gotten up on
the high X-ray slab without my husband’s help. The X-ray showed a broken hip
and the doctor in urgent care recommended Dr. Low for the surgery. When we
got home, we called his office and they could see me the next day. They would
not do anything without this office visit. The next day, we called the ambulance
service again and headed to the doctor’s office. Dr. Low said this was a first! If he
had known my condition, he would never have insisted that I come to the office.
He said I should go to the ER at once to be admitted. Surgery was scheduled for
April 15. The ambulance driver, James, knew the in’s and out’s very well and he
secured a bed for me in the ER out of the way and private. At 12:30 p.m., I was
moved to a hospital room and surgery was scheduled for noon the next day. On
the 15th, everyone was rushing about as my surgery was moved up to 9:30 a.m.
