proud man, far from blaming himself,
will try to justify his actions in some
way, or place the blame on others. He
will persist in doing exactly those
things which alienate him from God.
My task this day is to try to yield
without hesitation or questioning the
wisdom of the Will of God, to all that
my day holds. I must make my life
conform perfectly to the workings of
God’s Wisdom and Grace. If I am able
to do some good, I am thankful. I must
never consider it to be my doing. God
planted the seed in the hearts of those
I help, His Grace watered it and He
merely used me as an instrument. I
must be consoled, but not fooled! It
was all God’s work, not mine.
The Faith we all share, we did nothing
to merit. God gave it to us as a free
gift, but it is ours to preserve or lose.
If we take our Faith for granted, we
will surely lose it. We must make this
treasure the unspoken principle guiding
our every action. It must be the center
of our being. It must become, for us,
as necessary to our lives as the air we
breathe for, without Faith, life will have
no meaning and our soul will die. We
must constantly work to strengthen it
and make it operative in all that we
do. The surest way to do this is prayer.
We must speak to God, ask His help, beg
His pardon, promise to make amends
and thank Him for all the favors that
we receive through His Hands.
The Morning Offering does this best.
Be it the Ten Commandments or the
Beatitudes, all divine Truth can be
simply stated: Man was created to
know, love and serve God in this
world, and to be happy with Him
forever in the next. Each moment of
the day is a gift from the Hands of
God. Strive always to do His Will.
“If God be for us, who can stand
against us? NOTHING! Not even
death can separate us from God!”
Lord, Jesus Christ, I ask the Grace to accept the sadness in my heart, as
Thy Will for me, in this moment. I offer it up, in union with Thy sufferings,
for those who are in deepest need of Thy redeeming Grace. I surrender
myself to Thy Father’s Will and I ask Thee to help me to move on to the
next task that Thou hast set for me.
Spirit of Christ, help me to enter into a deeper union with Thee. Lead me
away from dwelling on the hurt I feel: to thoughts of charity for those who
need my love, to thoughts of compassion for those who need my care and
to thoughts of giving to those who need my help.
As I give myself to Thee, help me to provide for the salvation
of those who come to me in need. May I find my healing
in this giving. May I always accept God’s Will. May I find
my true self by living for others in a spirit of sacrifice and
suffering. May I die more fully to myself, and live more
fully in Thee. As I seek to surrender to the Father’s Will,
m ay I come to trust that He will do everything for me.
