Pauline united the two most powerful
weapons with which to conquer God’s
Heart and that of man - unlimited self
sacrifice and ardent charity! Christ
came to set the earth on fire. Our
Blessed Lord transmitted this fire to
Pauline that it might embrace the
hearts of all mankind.
The Church is the second glory of
Jesus Christ; the FIRST glory is MARY,
HIS MOTHER! Mary and the Church
receive their beauty from Christ, as
the moon receives the clarity of its
rays from the sun. Putting her hand in
the Hand of God, Pauline reached out
beyond self and sacrificed her whole
being that all might be animated and
illumined by the divine light of Christ.
This is the Prayer that was written by
Pauline-Marie Jaricot and was found
after her death:
“My hope is in Jesus, my only
treasure is the Cross ... I will
bless the Lord at all times and
His praise shall be always in my
mouth. I adore the Will of my
God. What does it matter to
me, O beloved and loveable Will
of God, if Thou shalt take from
me all earthly goods, reputation,
honor, health and life? What does
it matter that Thou shalt make
me descend into the depth of
humiliations? What does it matter
if only I find the hidden fire of Thy
heavenly Love? How happy I should
be if I could die for Thee and for
my fellow creatures! Jesus, Priest
and Victim, I unite the sacrifice of
my life and the cross I carry to Thy
Blood shed for me. I shelter myself
in Thy Wounds and I expect all
strength from Thee. My heart is
ready, O Lord, my heart is ready. I
only wish to do all for Thy greater
glory. I rely upon Thy strength
when the supreme moment comes
and not upon my own. I have
placed my hopes in Thy mercy. I
recommend to Thee all to whom
I may die indebted and I beg Thee,
that having given my life and my
blood for them, my friends will
pay my debts after my death.”
Let us not concern ourselves with
small personal interests! Let us not waste
tears on things of minor importance!
Let us embrace the Universe! Jesus
Christ died for all men, why weaken
our hearts with less noble desires?
As soldiers of Mary Immaculate, let
us have courage in following her Son
to the foot of the Cross of Calvary,
which has never been excelled. We are
called to be firm of mind and purpose.
Let us cast aside vain fear and summon
all our powers and resources in order to
achieve the Triumph of her Immaculate
Heart! We must never yield to the
spirit of the world, to the suggestions
of the powers of evil, to human
respect, timidity or tepidity. With
the help of Mary Immaculate, we will
meet frustration with resilience, tepidity
with ardor, faint-heartedness with
fearlessness, discouragement with
fortitude and cowardliness with
gallantry. HAVE COURAGE!
