Vanessa Thomas is

with pops symphonies
throughout the
country, delighting
audiences everywhere
she is heard.
Thomas is known
for her seamless
span of five octaves
and unique versatility
and extraordinary
command of a variety
of musical genres including opera, traditional
oratorio, jazz, blues, gospel and music theater.
Thomas sings regularly with Grammy-award winning
trumpet virtuoso Doc Severinsen and has also
shared the stage with Ernie Watts, Ed Shaughnessy,
Wayne Bergeron, Allen Vizzutti and Byron Stripling,
among many other talented musicians.

Thomas made her Carnegie Hall debut in June 2019
as part of the DCINY Calling All Dawns program singing
the tenor, alto and soprano solos for the Robert
Ray Gospel Mass. Her performance was lauded with
a standing ovation and a nod in the New York Concert
Review referring to Thomas as “a super-soloist.”
Thomas has performed at the Hollywood Bowl with
Doc Severinsen and his Big Band and sang a standalone
role in the world-premiere of the opera John
Brown by Kirke Meachem. Thomas has been a soloist
with the Cincinnati Pops, Ft. Worth Symphony,
Utah Symphony, Milwaukee Symphony, Detroit
Symphony, Rochester Philharmonic, Winston Salem
Symphony and Dayton Symphony. She will be
making her debut this season with the West Virginia
Symphony Orchestra, Florida Orchestra and Memphis
Symphony Orchestra. Thomas lives in the Kansas
City area and sings often with the Kansas City
Symphony.
