Gasparilla Island Maritime Museum,
Whidden’s & Melissa’s Flowers
If you haven’t been to Whidden’s in a year or two, things have definitely changed there. Some remodeling
has been done to the decking (newly-renamed Isabelle’s Dock, in memory of the late Isabelle Joiner,
daughter of the marina’s founder Sam Whidden), there is a new “Ram Lamb” in residence adding to the
menagerie, and marina co-owner Melissa Joiner Steyer has
a beautiful little nursery off in the side lot where she sells
flowers and other plants.
The Gasparilla Island Maritime Museum, located inside
Whidden’s, has also been spruced up and some new items
are up for examination. There is also a little gift shop.
All of these changes have definitely been a labor of love
for the Joiner/Chatham/Coleman families and their friends
... Isabelle would be very proud.
