ALady in Havana is an up-tempo story of
intrigue and an accomplishment in historical
fiction. Author Frank Foster debuts his
pseudonym, Ashley Morgan, and writes passionate
prose through the lens of two female
protagonists. Morgan combines a lively cast of
characters with pitch-perfect time and place.
Every chapter ignites the senses and thrusts the
reader inside 1950s Cuba. The temperate landscape
and authentic Cuban people jump off

As he approached, I realized that he wasn’t
even looking at Dallis. Instead, his eyes and that
smile were directed at me like some kind of
laser beam.
Actually, the motions didn’t help me talk;
they just kept me from fainting because this
was the best-looking man I’d ever laid eyes
on and he had the most commanding
presence I’d ever experienced ... the smile
was continuous.
“I am Luis Roberto Alvarez Montero. The
casino manager kindly directed me to
you.”
His Cuban accent was profound but
not thick, melodic but not comedic,
completely enchanting.
This is a story told with strong
female voices about a Southern belle,
Dimple Duncan, and her experiences with the Batista
government circa 1950. Her husband, Dallis, needs her socially charged
ambitions to help him land a school bus deal for his company back in America. A love
