At the St. Leonard Mission, we enrolled
285 members. Your box arrived with the
additional Portuguese materials to help
develop the mission in Mozambique.
On August 23, we had a visit from Sister
Tendai from Mozambique who came
to convey two important messages:
The Bishop of Chimoio Diocese has
authorized the establishment of a Living
Rosary Center in the Diocese! So she
had come to invite me to the official
opening and blessing of the orphanage
on September 14, 2018. This small
institution houses 21 destitute children
and will grow as more disadvantaged
children come for assistance. She grows
maize to feed them. I was able to hand
her the large parcel containing Rosaries,
Medals and oils you sent. Her heart was
in the sky in appreciation for your gift!
She brought the enrollment lists of 80
more members for the ULRA. Many need
instruction and the demand is great for
Sacramentals. We thank God for your
help. < Eugenia - ZIMBABWE >
Your wonderful big parcel gift arrived.
Thank you very much. Our membership
is growing greatly. On Pentecost
Sunday, many Christians attended the
Feast. Mass was celebrated by Cardinal
Birhaneyesus Demirew Surafel. On this
day, the Holy Spirit appeared to the
Apostles in tongues of fire and gave
them His spiritual Gifts. Many took part.
I am sending you a large number of
enrollment lists. It is our happiness to
help you with translations so that our
people can read your beautiful prayer
cards, leaflets and instructions.

We continue to have much unrest in
our country. The laws made today
protect the corrupted rulers and are
ways in which they can take from the
poor legally. Those held in jail are
released and continue their lives of
robbery and violence. The hospitals
and schools are in poor condition.
Many parents have no option but to
leave the country to earn a living. The
children are left with grandparents,
relatives or neighbors. Many commit
suicide. The Greek-Catholic minority
is persecuted and our churches bulldozed,
demolished or put to fire. I am
not afraid but I care about the human
race. We gathered peacefully to celebrate
our Union of 100 years. People waved
flags, music played and we had joy in
our hearts. A gang looking like rioters
penetrated the peaceful gathering and
started throwing stones and agitating.
The happiness was short lived. The
Jandarmerie came with full ammunition
and attacked not the rioters but the
peaceful people. Shock, panic and war
broke out. They used water guns and gas
guns on the citizens who were beaten
with their professional sticks. People
could not breathe; their eyes, nose and
throats were affected. 532 people were
injured. This reminded us so much of
the time when many of our priests and
faithful were rounded up and sent to
the gulag. After 29 years of dialog, we
have this. This “DIALOG” means terrorism
under the protection of the Law. Pray
for us. The Message of Fatima is taking
place. We did not amend our lives.
