the guns & hoses
foundation
“prep for duty. prep for life”
When there is a threat to our nation’s
freedoms. When something goes
bump in the night. When a loved one
has fallen and can’t get up. When the piercing
alarm signals there’s flames and danger. What
would our lives be like without our military and
first responders?
The Guns & Hoses Foundation was founded
with a rebellious spirit and a lofty objective: a
paradigm shift where injury prevention and
optimal human performance are the norm in the
tactical community.
consider the following
statistics:
The National Strength and Conditioning
Association conducted a study in partnership
with the Colorado Springs SWAT program and
reported one back injury per year that required
surgery, and an estimated $700,000 a year in
worker’s compensation claims. After training
similar to what the Guns & Hoses Foundation
will provide, the SWAT team reported no back
injuries from 2008-2016 and 80% reduction in
worker’s compensation claims.
Firefighter overexertion and strain were the
leading causes of injuries from 2006-2008. In
2012, 55% of on-duty fatalities were caused
by cardiovascular stress and overexertion.
Musculoskeletal injuries of deployed and nondeployed
military service members continue to
be responsible for the greatest number of medical
encounters (over 30%).
These numbers reveal a lack of education and
physical readiness. For the tactical operator,
working out is not simply about fitness; it’s about
work. However, while the college or professional
athlete has access to industry best trainers,
facilities and education, the tactical operator
works out and goes to work. First responders
suffer from chronic and often preventable injuries
which limit their ability to perform their jobs
well, sometimes at risk to themselves or to those
in need of their services. These physical issues
are a significant factor in shortened careers and
medical disability.
The Guns & Hoses Foundation, Inc. is a 501(c)3
established in January 2017 as a charitable
and educational organization to provide
injury prevention, human performance and
physical therapy services to military, police and
firefighters. Unfortunately, these services are
not covered by insurance, healthcare systems
or individual departments. The Guns & Hoses
Foundation will also educate and prepare
military and first responder hopefuls so that
our young men and women entering training
programs will successfully pass the rigorous
physical testing without injuries and move on to
long, productive careers.
The Guns & Hoses Foundation helps our military,
police officers and firefighters to “Prep for Duty.
Prep for Life.” We hope you will support us in
providing proactive health and wellness to our
tactical community. As in many areas, the best
medicine is prevention!
Guns & Hoses Foundation, Inc. is looking for businesses
and individuals interested in investing in our tactical
community and first responders. To find out how you
