In The Community TFO teams up with Tampa Bay Harvest to feed Tampa Bay For over15 years, The h Florida Florida Orchestra has teamed up with Tampa Bay Harvest to collect canned goods to feed families throughout Tampa Bay. But where does all that food go? �������������������������������������������������������������������������������������������������� distributes food to about 200 charities in west central Florida including Pinellas and Hillsborough counties. Using almost all volunteers, they pick up excess food from local supermarkets, hospitals, schools, restaurants, and other businesses that choose to save products. Last year alone that totaled about 7 million pounds of food. The donations allow the charities to spend less on feeding their clientele and more on other services including continuing education, job training, day care and medical care. �������������������������������������������������������������������������������������������������������������������������������� – including The Florida Orchestra – who wish to sponsor canned food drives on its behalf.
