The Department offers programs in environmental education, passive outdoor recreation, and volunteer stewardship. Many of the programs are free to participants and are available for a variety of age levels. �������������������������������������������������������� Each month, the department’s Volunteer and Education Division offers a variety of exciting events in Manatee County’s parks and preserves. From kids’ nature classes to adult photography strolls, to archery trainings and dog walks, there’s something for everyone offered in the monthly FREE programs. Want to join a tour? Find a minimum of 12 caches on this free self-guided tour and turn in your passport to receive a custom trackable tag. To learn more or to ������������������������������������������������������������������������������������������������������������������������������������������ ������������������������������������������������������ Manatee County’s Parks and Natural Resources Department has multiple nature-oriented facilities throughout the preserve system. At Rye Preserve, visitors can explore interpretive exhibits that tell the story of the site’s history and uplands habitat and creatures. At Emerson Point, visitors can study in the Freeman and Mabel Horton Field Study Center or learn more about the preserve in the Visitor’s Center. And soon visitors to Robinson Preserve will be able to learn in the NEST, a unique structure that promotes learning in the round while nestled within the location’s trees. All of these facilities can be visited during tours or rented for special events, meetings, or classes.
