Beauty oily hair? 5 steps to 5 days without washing! Women, who struggle with greasy hair, can’t imagine going a day without washing it, so 5 days sounds impossible. But it is possible to ‘train’ your hair to be less greasy and be able to go longer without washing it, avoiding too much damage. Here are 5 steps to go 5 days without washing! Step 1 On the first day wash your hair with a clarifying shampoo that is clear versus a milky shampoo which can weigh hair down and look greasy. Then condition your hair from under your ear level and down, not putting any on your scalp as it can weigh hair down and look oily prematurely. Step 2 Get a good dry shampoo. On day 2 if it’s already starting to look oily, apply at roots and brush through. If you have greasy hair you probably already know this step. But a trick you may not know is actually applying dry shampoo to your roots right after you wash and dry it, as a preventative measure. If the dry shampoo is on the roots from the beginning, it will begin soaking up the oil as it comes! Step 3 If you work out and get sweaty try a sweatband to absorb sweat at the hairline. Then at night spray the hair with dry shampoo and clip your hair up in a bun on the top of your head, this will help extend the life of your wash. Step 4 After day 3 or 4 it may start looking oily despite all the dry shampoo (it’s great but it’s no miracle worker). This is when you rely on the “don’t care hairdo” which is generally a messy bun either on top of your head for a casual look or a sleek back low bun for a more professional look. Step 5 The last step of your shampoo-free hair and should be day 4 of no washing, is for an apple cider rinse in warm water. While in the shower, pour a bit of apple cider vinegar into your hair, work it through your roots, and rinse it out. Use raw, organic apple cider vinegar, like Bragg Apple Cider Vinegar, this can help restore the pH balance of your hair while ridding the scalp of buildup and yet is gentle enough that it doesn’t strip your strands of essential nutrients. Then wash – rinse – repeat! 40 WomanToWomanMagazine.com
