Mariani’s in the Spotlight Alan Fowlkes COMtech Business Park Mariani’s Venue, located in COMtech Business Park is a great place to set up an event. With its majestic atmosphere, a beautiful outdoor space, and great employees, your event is bound for success. Mariani’s is one of the most romantic venues for an indoor or outdoor wedding and reception. There have been a multitude of beautiful weddings at Mariani’s Venue and testimonials from Mariani’s website have had nothing short of great reviews and satis��ed guests. Although Mariani’s venue is known for its elaborate weddings, that is not all this venue does. Mariani’s venue will also host company events, retirement events, and other private events. Delicious food, via Mariani’s catering can also be provided. Also happening at COMtech Business park is the building of the new Lumbee River Electric Membership Corporation. This will be a 40-acre parcel on the land of COMtech. The new headquarters is expected to be done in the spring of 2018. LREMC is an electric company that has been around since 1940. Its purpose was to provide electric service to rural areas considered unpro��table by large power suppliers. Bringing electric power to the rural areas not only improved the living conditions for people already in the area but also opened the area for growth and the development. New homes, stores and businesses began to pop up across the four counties as families moved out of the cities into more rural settings. On May 24th and 25th, COMtech was excited to attend the Lumbee Economic Summit. This years’ theme was “Recovery to Prosperity”. The Summit was focused on construction/ environment, health care and agribusiness sectors. This summit was seeking to opportunities to restore, grow and sustain our businesses and communities after the ravages of the recent storm (Hurricane Matthew). Attendees of the Summit was bene��ted from high caliber networking and workshops with members of Congress, Tribal leaders, federal, state and local of��cials, top tier business leaders, business school and occupational practitioners, and highly successful CEOs. An entrepreneur’s workshop, together with a tradeshow, traditional Indian food, an American Indian Artisan Market will provide a variety of learning opportunities. The Summit is strongly supported by federal and state of��cials and is a conduit of today’s and future American Indian enterprises. The Lumbee Economic Summit was held in the University Center Annex at The University of North Carolina at Pembroke.
