They now say that coffee has the ability to keep heart vessels clear and lower the risk of Type 2 Diabetes, as well as producing cancer-fighting antioxidants. Now it appears that coffee drinking appears to help combat aging ... who knew? Coffee prices are all over the place and you can get a good deal by shopping the sales. However, you should expect to pay premium for good beans from some of the many coffee specialty websites. You can pick out what you would like to try, or they can set you up with a variety pack to try. The Blue Bottle Coffee website (bluebottlecoffee. com) even has a questionnaire that helps coffee drinkers refine and choose a coffee selection based upon other flavors they like, such as chocolate or vanilla. It asks questions regarding what brewing methods you prefer, if you drink it black, how much you drink and how strong you like it. Then the website makes suggestions. Blue Bottle Coffee also has several videos on how to make coffee, whether it’s by your method of brewing or with a new method you’ll fall in love with. Experimenting with new preparation techniques will test your patience. Typically, the better the coffee, the longer it takes to make. Coffereview.com has a newsletter that you can sign up for that will help you with the highestrated coffee or best values. The website will steer you to other websites to guide you to the best roaster, or perhaps the closest coffee roaster near you. Remember, we have good roasters in our local area from Fort Myers to Sarasota. Now, about the price. K-Cup pods are certainly the rage. I have several for the office and my home, they are handy and convenient can be found everywhere. Not long ago, I remember asking my local Publix Supermarket to carry K-Cups and was initially met with a blank stare. Now, my local grocery store has an expanded coffee isle. Unfortunately, this convenience comes at a price. On average the little single servings of coffee cost about 50 to 60 cents apiece. That works out to about $50 a pound. The good news is that you can buy special containers for Nespresso and Keurig and put in your own special freshly ground beans that you ground that morning.
