Hometown Living At Its Best 43 year,” said Lisa. Outside, there are reminders of Mark’s tie to the land: an old tractor, a buggy reminiscent of something you’d see in an old western, an old dinner bell, a 100-year-old bench, as well as a swing and several beautiful wood pieces made by Mark. The “Little Folks Express” train sits nearby ready to give the children a fun adventure. Little Folks Farm and Childcare has two main points of focus: nature and family. “We celebrate Earth Day, Arbor Day, Nature Appreciation Day, and other eco-related holidays,” said Lisa. “Our mission is to get children in tune with the natural world around them by providing an outdoor classroom for children.” As the children experience nature, these holidays become much more than words. It is in the experience with the land that the children gain understanding about their part in caring for the environment. The fruit trees and the flower trees were planted by Mark’s mother, Irene Davis Williams. “She would have enjoyed seeing all the children learn from the land,” said Mark. “She lived to be 90 years old and was always working on a project outside.” Today, the children enjoy pears, peaches, and figs from the fruit trees his mother planted. One of the ways Lisa and Mark bring nature and family together is with the Little Folks Farm Fishing Rodeo. “This will be our fourth year,” said Mark. “It goes from 8:00-12:00, and then we have lunch.” Each year, on the first Saturday in May, a fishing tournament for kids 16 and under is held
