The Firebirds organization deeply appreciates your continued, enthusiastic support over the years. This season we will need your support even more. It costs us $300,000 a year to operate the team and cover expenses such as field maintenance and repairs, housing the coaches, transporting the players, providing uniforms and equipment, buying bats and balls, etc. Contrary to popular belief, the Firebirds do not receive any direct financial support from either Major League Baseball or the Town of Orleans. Although we have the Cape Cod Baseball League’s highest attendance, we do not charge admission, nor do we charge fans for the yearbook, daily stat sheets or listening to and viewing our internet broadcasts. RECOGNITION All donations are 100% tax deductible and will receive a “Thank You” note with IRS verification and acknowledgement in the Yearbook. BENEFITS Every donation automatically includes membership in the annual Firebirds Fan Club and certification as a voting member of the Orleans Athletic Association. Be MORE THAN A FAN, become a benefactor of the Firebirds at games. Instead, all funds are raised through the Orleans Athletic Association, which is a 501 (c) (3) non-profit organization. Every member of the OAA is a non-paid volunteer. Many work hundreds of hours a year tirelessly contributing to the team. The primary sources of operating income are sales from the Home Plate Shop, the 50-50 raffle, fan donations at the game, corporate sponsorships, and fees to participate in the baseball clinics. That’s why we are so grateful for all your individual and business donations. To help us remain financially strong, the OAA launched the Firebirds Fan Club in 2011. The generous outpouring of support over the past two years has enabled the team to avoid a potential financial crisis and significantly reduce our debt. The Firebirds are counting on our great fans once again. We are reaching out beyond Orleans to Eastham, Provincetown, Truro and Wellfleet residents, as well as to our many summer visitors to join our donor team and assist us so we can continue to provide this wholesome, family oriented activity. Attendance at a Firebirds game is the best Cape Cod summer entertainment bargain available, and the team continues to be the highlight of many vacations as well as a major source of local pride.
