ARTS & ENTERTAINMENT While much of Englewood’s leisure opportunities focus on the great outdoors (and the outdoors is pretty great here), the area also has plenty to offer when it comes to arts and entertainment. It’s key to stay on top of all the art shows, food festivals, concert weekends and special events that take place throughout the year, and especially during the “winter” months. Not only will you have a great time, but often you’ll be supporting a local organization. Lemon Bay High School boasts an awardwinning theater and band program, and both offer performances throughout the school year that are open to the public. The local Rotary Clubs sponsor many popular annual events including the Spring Arts Festival, the July 4th Fire Cracker Fest and fireworks, golf and poker tournaments. Of course, every Labor Day Weekend, Englewood pulls out all the stops for our Pioneer Days Celebration. There are so many opportunities to support local agencies and have a great time, from food festivals, to concerts, that we can’t list them here. Let’s just say if it’s Saturday night, something is going on. For more than 25 years, The Lemon Bay Playhouse has been producing plays, special concerts and entertainment events at its theater at 96 W. Dearborn St. The PHOTO BY TOM NEWTON PHOTO BY SUSAN SMITH PHOTO BY SUSAN SMITH 2017 43
