Often serving as a gathering place for beachgoers and visitors, Pier 60 is nothing short of a vibrant hub of dailyactivity on Clearwater Beach. With roots dating back to the 1920’s, the pier itself is well-knownas one of Florida’s premiere fishing locations. A family-friendly bait and tackle shop rents equipment anytime the pier is open for fishing and--for a small fee--visitors can walk all 1,080 feet to the end of the pier for a unobstructed view of the Gulf of Mexico. Back on land, the entrance of Pier 60 features a covered playground for children, a beach shop that sells souvenirs and snacks, and a visitor’s center. Stick around as evening approaches to witness the entire area transition into a sunset carnival aptly named “Sunsets at Pier 60.” This free daily event features local artisans and street entertainers whose amazing talents run the gamut. On Fridays and Saturdays, bring a blanket or low profile chair and take in a family movie on an outdoor jumbo screen (weather permitting).
