Comfort Keepers Keeping the comforts at homeTM “There’s no place like home...however, the reality of keeping aging loved ones at home for many families is not possible,” says Tracy Kelley, owner and operator of Comfort Keepers in Central Florida. When seniors need assistance to stay independent in their home, Comfort Keepers steps in to fill the gaps. Fourteen years ago, Tracy Kelley opened Polk County’s first Comfort Keepers and has since expanded into Lake, Highlands and Hardee Counties. With three young children, Kelley felt like she had reached a point in her life where she needed to fulfill her passion for people while maintaining a schedule flexible enough to be there for her children’s important events. Seeing a need for elder care in the Polk County community, she began looking at all of the possibilities until she found the Comfort Keepers franchise – this was a company with heart. “Our mission is to provide our clients with the highest level of quality of life that is achievable,” Kelley says, “We treat each of our clients with the respect and dignity they deserve, as though we were caring for a member of our own family.” Every aspect of the company must be grounded in that love, especially the care takers themselves! With the highest standards of service and care, building the right team is vital. Comfort Keepers hires less than one out of every thirty professional caregivers who are interviewed. In addition to the multiple benchmarks and qualifications they have to meet, prospective Comfort Keepers must also pass the most important test: the “lovability” test. These top notch caregivers assist with everything from household tasks, like light housekeeping and meal preparation, to personal care and grooming tasks. And for companionship, clients benefit from conversation, walks, and errands, as well as assistance with hobbies and other interests. The heart for community is also a central part of Kelley’s business philosophy. Comfort Keepers actively participates in the non-profit organization Better Living for Seniors and the Lakeland Chamber of Commerce. She supports Profile 46 www.PolkElderCare.com
