51 GASPARILLA MAGAZINE NOVEMBER/DECEMBER 2016 It’s that time of year when our friends come down to visit and we turn our thoughts to food and fun on the water. After a quick bite take a walk over to the beach, but don’t hang out long as there is probably another hungry group of boaters waiting for your spot. Next we have Flounders, located just around the corner on the back canal. From the White Elephant head out and you will see the wooden dock running along Chadwick Park. Stay in between Chadwick Park and the yellow markers and follow them around the curved seawall to the back canal. Remember to not let your stern swing too far out when you come around the point as the channel is narrow. You will find Flounders at the end of this canal. Flounders has two bands a day, seven days a week, and they have a host of games and activities to keep everyone entertained. Whether it’s the giant Jenga game, cornhole, table tennis or any of the host of activities they have set up and waiting for patrons, you’re sure to have a good time. If you enjoy a giant, sloppy “everything” burger look no further. I also have a soft spot for the giant nachos. Make sure to try a tiki burger and fries if you get a chance. Thirsty? Ask for a Big PaPa (if you dare) but don’t stir with your straw. Ask for details when you order. The Tiki Bar features exciting new drinks like fruit fusions and craft beers. The menu features new food items, all with a Floribbean taste. Beach Road Wine Bar & Bistro is the place to go if you are looking for healthy gourmet with a focus on fresh. With more than 50 types of wine available and an extensive craft beer selection, this location is a must. My wife and I love to entertain here and the international cheese platter is sure to be a hit. I had a chance to speak with the chef EJ and he suggested the daily specials and their famous cane-sugar-seared Ahi Tuna with a sweet and spicy dry rub. They are also known for their fresh catch menu, but you will need to ask your server for the details. I think I will stick with my lamb sliders. Beach Road Wine Bar & Bistro is not hard to find and the channel in is well marked. If you are heading north on the ICW, just before you come to the Tom Adams bridge (about 100’) look to your starboard and you will see the sign into the restaurant. Look for the white condo with the blue-green windows on your left. Keeping it on your port follow the channel around
