Saturday, Aug. 20 - Little Miss Englewood Pageant, Lemon Bay High School, 9 a.m. This pageant is open to only girls this year ages newborn to 14 years of age. The pageant is intended to promote self esteem, poise, and positive attitudes for contestant as well as the parents(s), guardian(s), who participate with them in a fun and competitive atmosphere in recognition of their accomplishments. Age Divisions run through Newborns to 14 years. Donations will be accepted. Admission is $3 per person. There is no charge for contestants or children under 5 years of age. Saturday, Aug. 27 - ChalkFest 5.0, Dearborn Street, Registration is 8 a.m. chalking starts at 9 a.m. and goes to 2 p.m. Now in its fifth year, Englewood will once again transform Dearborn Street into an oversized canvas. Music will fill the air and art stations will be set up for more hands on experience. Bring your chalk, some will be available from donations, no oils please. ChalkFest 5.0 is a free event. Dearborn Street closes for the safety of our artists. Saturday, Aug. 27 - Kids’ Shipwreck Party, Tringali Center from 6 to 9 p.m. Now in its fourth year, this is another free event offered by the Pioneer Days Committee. Open to kids 9 to 15. Pizza and drinks will be served. Dress up for the costume contest. Registration will be at the door. This is a lockdown event meaning, kids have to be signed in and out and won't be allowed to leave the building, (without an approved adult). Classes: Prams – Junior sailors, age 10 and under - Free Sunfish – Sailors age 11 to 15 - $20 entry fee World Cup – All other entrants - $30 entry fee Trophies - first, second, thirdrd place trophies will be awarded in each class. “Captains Choice” award and the highly coveted “Titanic Award.” All Pram sailors will receive a participation award. Saturday, Sept. 3 - Shipwreck Dance, 6 to11p.m. Revived in 2011 and owing it roots to the Pioneer Days "Streetdance," 2016's free Shipwreck Dance will be the best yet. Featuring a handful of selected food trucks and the best music in the area. Party goers can dress in their best (or worst) shipwreck gear or attire that reflects this years theme, "Englewood Rocks-Six Decades" and enter our costume contest.
