One of six children born to Angelo and Myrtle Padilla Bell, who moved to Boca Grande in 1926. Angelo Bell was born in Punta Gorda in 1904. Myrtle Padilla Bell was born on Cayo Costa in 1913. Mrs. Bell’s family was one of the first non-native American settlers in the barrier islands. The history of the Bell and Padilla family is well documented in both the Boca Grande Historical Society and the Port Boca Grande Lighthouse museum.
