The Shell Factory: If you thought the Shell Factory was more for tourists and children, you haven’t been there in a good long time. While it’s still full of Florida kitsch and much of it looks the same as it did when it opened 78 years ago, The Shell Factory is definitely a place where you want to plan a whole day of fun. Entry is free, with the exception of a payment to enter the nature park (see below), and includes access to a huge warehouse full of flea marketstyle stores, a natural history museum, a military museum and a fossil museum. There are several places to snack, as well as several sit-down restaurants where you can relax and eat. Outside you will find a fun park that includes a rock-climbing all, giant trampolines, the Soaring Eagle Zipline, bumper boats and miniature golf. The only other prices to be paid are as follows: Paddle boat prices are $5 per boat Miniature golf prices are $5 per person ($4 for children and seniors) Water wars are $5 per bucket Trampoline rides are $3 Zip lining is $8.50 Gem mining is $7 There is no charge for the rock climbing wall. The Skatium is not only a world-class ice arena, the building also holds a gymnasium and fitness center as well. They also host ISI and USFSAcertified ice and inline hockey leagues, as well as birthday parties by reservation. Call to find out when “learn to skate” classes will be held next, as well as hours for power skating mornings and times for advanced skates. Figure skating classes and special arena times are also scheduled. There is a small snack bar inside the Skatium as well, and “walkers” are available on request for those skaters who need a little refresher course on how to stay upright on the ice.
