34 Story by Sue Erwin Photos by Sue Erwin and provided by Water One of Southwest Florida, Inc. It’s a growing global crisis, and it’s getting worse every day. More than one billion people on the planet lack access to clean drinking water. Almost half of them are children. Kenn Visser may have found a solution to this problem. Visser, a resident of Placida who has lived in the area for more than 25 years and along with a few other local innovative thinkers, developed a product called Pure2Go. The portable water purifier has an advanced filtration system that kills bacteria on contact and can be used by individuals or multi-users without cross-contamination. “In 1997 I was running a family-owned beverage company that developed oxygenated bottled water. The company developed a high-proprietary filter that removes bacteria and viruses on demand. That filter created the genesis for the first filtered drinking straw about 20 years ago,” Visser said. The product provides safe, clear drinking water instantly. It can easily fit into a carry-on bag and could help ease one’s mind when traveling to areas where the drinking water is questionable. Visser is vice president of marketing and sales at Water One of Southwest Florida, Inc.
