MUSIC, MYSTERY and MAGIC THE 2016-17 BROADWAY IN ORLANDO SEASON WILL DAZZLE, DELIGHT AND EVEN CHALLENGE AUDIENCES. BY DANA S. EAGLES AND RANDY NOLES he upcoming FAIRWINDS Broadway in Orlando™ season at Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts is perhaps the most intriguing yet. It promises to delight, dazzle and even challenge audiences with magic, mystery, dance, romance, comedy and fantasy. There are seven shows — one more than the previous season — plus an eagerly anticipated season option. That equals eight unforgettable evenings of entertainment. The eclectic mix is obviously working. Season subscription sales, which reached a record-setting 11,500 last year, were even higher this year. (Seven-show subscriptions are no longer available. However, six-show options are now being offered; see page 66 for details.) Presented in collaboration with Broadway Across America and the Florida Theatrical Association, the lineup includes The Illusionists — Live from Broadway (October 4-9); The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time (November 1-6); An American in Paris (December 13-18); A Gentleman’s Guide to Love & Murder (February 7-12, 2017); Disney’s The Little Mermaid (March 7-12, 2017); Matilda — The Musical (May 9-14, 2017); and Finding Neverland (June 6-11, 2017).
